The Doug

Fantastic long weekend – plenty of snow men, snow fights, snow running & peak bagging! Great house, we really enjoyed our stay! 🙂

A great find and a perfect family retreat. Us pack of Aussies loved The Doug and Castle Hill. We are already planning the next trip back; it will be longer so that we can explore more of the area and enjoy this wonderful place.

Our first trip to NZ! Castle Hill was the second place on our tour of the South Island, and we couldn’t have picked a more beautiful house and place to stay. We’ve had a wonderful time and will not forget this place in a hurry.

Another fantastic stay at The Doug. Few days of sunshine, exploring and skiing. Can’t wait to be back!

Our annual holiday to The Doug and skiing Porters and also for the first time at Cheeseman. It’s been a great few days, always love Castle Hill, leaves us dreaming about owning our own patch of NZ soil one day! Can’t wait to be back, kids love it and are not wanting to go home. 🙁

We’ve been happy to return to The Doug each day to the comfort and relaxing vibe. Looking forward to returning during a bumper snow year. Thank you for the great hospitality.

We loved it there, such an amazing house and it was all so stunning with all the snow around – beautiful place. Would love to go back sometime. Everything was so organised and easy to find, made staying there so simple and relaxing. Perfect weekend … we absolutely loved it and want to be back there now! It’s a struggle heading back to work!

A fantastic place to base yourself and explore the local area. Very well set up, warm, comfortable and inviting. All that adds up to a place that is easy – everything works as it should so you can just get on with relaxing or making the most of your time. By the time we left we were already talking about what we would do the next time we went back. Hopefully soon!

Another pack of Aussies returned to The Doug for a longer stay to enjoy the skiing and Castle Hill. We enjoyed settling into The Doug and making the most of this awesome log home. I fear I will yet again have to drag [my partner] away at the end of our stay. The kids love the playground at Castle Hill, especially the tree which is slowly growing into a tree house. We hope to return again next year, or [maybe even] fit in a fishing trip later in the year. Can’t say enough about The Doug, we love it! Thanks for letting us stay.

An inspirational mountain retreat you’ve created in The Doug, so warm and cosy.

This is the second time we have visited The Doug Log House. My husband and I just love it here. The snow has been great. I love the views from this house. Look forward to coming back.

Have watched the growth of The Doug over the last years, but nothing prepares you for the awesome reality. Really a fantastic place.

We’ve really appreciated how cosy the house is, and also how easy it is to manage gear, kids, meals etc in the house. It’s wonderful to come up and be reminded of these beautiful places so close to home.
